Week Without Walls (WWW) is a very special feature in the BCIS calendar. Each year, students from the Elementary and Secondary Schools take part in various activities and trips off campus to directly experience the culture and environment of our host country, China. WWW is a full week dedicated to allowing our students to not only see more of our host country, but also feel it, taste it, and truly experience it in every respect.

BCIS is a full member of three sports conferences:

• The International Schools Athletic Conference (ISAC), which operates across Beijing and Tianjin
• The Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS), which covers all of China and Mongolia
• Junior International Schools Athletics Conference (JISAC), with membership from many international elementary schools in Beijing.

BCIS Water Warriors Swim Team is open to swimmers from Grade 2 to Grade 12.

What is it:

Established in 2017 by two seniors at BCIS, Avenir is a business competition designed to encourage high school students worldwide to develop pioneering business plans. The competition aims to enhance the participants' skills in entrepreneurship, social enterprise thinking, positive networking, and receiving critical feedback from business professionals.

Avenir takes secondary school students' ideas to the next level by fostering an innovative mindset and offering numerous prizes and resources. The experience of competing in Avenir requires participants to be collaborative and do extensive market research in industries, practice and enhance public speaking skills, and build confidence in presenting arguments as a group. Students participate in this program and develop ideas to address demanding challenges. The event aims towards envisioning future businesses that work for the good of all & the sustainable development of the world.

Theme: Pioneer

Hi Young Entrepreneurs,

This year, we encourage you to think outside the box and pitch your innovative & unique ideas to the business leaders and win a start-up fund for your own business. Don’t worry; this is not rocket science! Whether starting from scratch or making improvements on existing products, you can be a pioneer by creating novel, positive impacts on others!

You may want to make your project relevant in the near future.

For example, the post-pandemic life (this is not a requirement). Here is one idea that we got:

- After the pandemic, people will be more cautious with personal hygiene. Thus, the prevailing public drinking fountain might not be as favored as before. Is it possible for the entrepreneurs to improve the drinking fountains so that they will not be wasted?

Timeline:

• Registration and submission open: Dec 2021- April 2022
• Workshop & Advice: Starting from March or April 2022 (TBD)
• Competition: 21^st and 22^nd May 2022

Cost of Entry per person:

• 279 RMB for Early Bird (before March. 15^th, 2022);
• 359 RMB for Regular Registration (deadline before April. 30^th, 2022).

6% additional charge for Fapiao.

RULES:

Each Avenir submission and presentation represents an original work that has been created by a team of 2- 4 high school students from Grade 8-12. There is no limit to the number of teams that can enter the competition from the same school.

Two Divisions:

Junior division: G8-9

Senior division: G10-12

Team members have the authority to submit/present their original work by virtue of their ownership of the content (or the expressed permission of any non-participating content owners).

The submission/presentation does not disclose any third-party intellectual property or violate any existing copyright protections.

The Avenir leadership team maintains sole discretion to interpret, modify or eliminate any of the competition’s rules, terms, and conditions at any time and without notice. That said, the primary purpose of the Avenir rules, terms, and conditions is to provide equality of opportunity while also promoting a positive and impactful learning experience for all participants.
